Gold Beach, so named for its role in the Oregon Gold Rush, is located at the mouth of the Rogue River — one of Oregon’s famous Wild Rivers that flows from the Crater Lake area to the Pacific.
Both an exceptional beach destination and a staging ground for adventures into the Rogue River Valley, Gold Beach is a versatile and surprisingly temperate spot. As a designated “wild river”, the Rogue River has limited development, preserving its ancient appearance and surrounding wilderness. Homesteads along the river have been served by mailboats since the late 1800s, and a jet-boat service offers tours of the beautiful Rogue River canyons and whitewaters, stopping to deliver mail on the way.
