Partnership with Local Business Brings Northwest’s Largest Vacation Rental Management Firm to Florence

Florence, OR — Portland-based Vacasa Rentals recently partnered with a local property management firm, bringing the Pacific Northwest’s largest vacation rental company to Florence. The partnership marks Vacasa’s first expansion to the Southern Oregon Coast.

Vacasa has partnered with Elson Shields, a local property management firm with more than 25 years of experience in Florence. While Elson Shields retains its commercial and long-term management focus, Vacasa has taken over management of its portfolio of vacation rental homes. The company has also signed on with several new clients who own Florence-area vacation homes.

Tina Calvert, a 12-year veteran of Elson Shields, has transitioned into the role of Vacasa’s regional property manager in the Florence area. More than 30 homes are now under her care, but Calvert reports the change has been for the better.

“Partnering with Vacasa has meant being able to provide better customer service to my owners, and guests,” Calvert says. “The advertising alone is a huge bonus – I am amazed at the increase in bookings that my owners have seen.”

Owners have taken the transition to Vacasa’s management in stride, and many have reported an increase in bookings since their homes were transferred to Vacasa’s care.

Calvert shares that Vacasa’s size allows them to invest heavily in marketing, advertising, and innovative technology. Much like hotels or airlines, they utilize a custom-built pricing engine that automatically optimizes rates, ensuring owners are receiving the best possible rates for their homes — without overpricing and missing out on bookings during slower seasons.

Vacasa began in 2009 with only a handful of rentals on the Northern Oregon Coast and on Mt. Hood; over the last five years, the company has grown to nearly 900 homes located throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Colorado, and California. The Oregon Coast remains their largest market by far, with more than 350 rentals along the Coast under their management.
