The Spot
Located directly on the Garibaldi waterfront, The Spot is a fisherman-owned seafood market, processor, and distributor deeply connected to Oregon’s commercial fishing industry. Visitors strolling the boardwalk can often watch fishing boats unload the day’s catch directly to owner Kelly Barnett, a commercial fisherman and master fish cutter known locally as “The Blade” for his expert filleting skills. The market sources directly from Oregon fishermen and longtime fishing families, offering fresh salmon, tuna, oysters, Dungeness crab, pink shrimp, and other seasonal catches landed along the North Coast.
The Spot is also known for its house-made smoked seafood, with salmon, scallops, oysters, and tuna smoked right on the dock. Customers can find smoked salmon pâté, Oregon pink shrimp cocktails with house-made sauce, and other specialty seafood products prepared in-house, all showcasing the quality and variety of Oregon seafood while helping keep local catch circulating within the community.
Beyond the seafood counter, The Spot remains deeply involved in supporting Oregon’s fishing future and coastal communities. Kelly Barnett regularly volunteers with the OCVA Seafood Butchery Program, teaching fish filleting demonstrations for high school students and culinary arts educators. Through its direct ties to the fleet, hands-on craftsmanship, and commitment to community, The Spot offers visitors an authentic connection to Oregon’s working waterfront culture.
