Thank you for honoring Governor Kate Brown’s executive order to stay at home to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus. It’s the best way to keep you and our coastal communities safe. When this outbreak has passed, we’ll be here to welcome you back with open arms.
In the meantime, we don’t want you to suffer from Oregon Coast withdrawal. Here’s a collection of live cameras and videos where you can get your coastal fix.
For Wildlife Lovers
On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., you can tune into a live whale watching stream managed by Oregon State Parks and try to spot migrating whales along the coast with park rangers.
While the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport is temporarily closed, you still can check up on the animals who call it home. Click here to view the live shark, otter or sea bird cameras. Staff continues to care for the animals during the closure. The aquarium has set up an emergency operating fund and is asking for donations from the public. Also, check out the online educational resources for kids, available in conjunction with the Oceanscape Network.
For Armchair Travelers
Wondering what the weather looks like at the Coast? KGW has live cameras installed in the following locations: Astoria, Cannon Beach, Pacific City and Newport. KOIN has Seaside and Lincoln City cameras; KATU has one live camera in Lincoln City.
Area hotels and campgrounds have cameras up and down the coast, too: The Lanai at the Cove in Seaside, Tolovana Inn in Cannon Beach, Ocean Inn at Manzanita, and Cape Kiwanda RV Resort in Pacific City. Drop in online and then consider making a future reservation so that you can take in that same view in person.
For Sports Enthusiasts
Surfline is tapped into cameras at the top surfing beaches up and down the Coast. If golf is your sport, world-renown Bandon Dunes Golf Resort has multiple cameras on several of its courses. While the resort and pro shop are closed temporarily, the much-anticipated Sheep Ranch Course is still slated to open in June.
For Serenity Seekers
Travel Oregon has produced a 20-minute video that shows the perfect Oregon sunset along the Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor. The sound of lapping waves is a bonus. Take a moment to stop, breathe and soak in Mother Nature’s glory.
