Thinking about heading to Coos Bay/ North Bend?
Coos Bay/ North Bend downtown areas have really worked to improve their appearance.
New spots: Joey’s Arcade and Soda Bar (and premium roast coffee) opened Nov 4th; Outdoor-In, family-focused pizza/burger spot with 2000 SF playground and arcade, voted #1 Clam Chowder on S Coast. North Bend launched its new Sip and Stroll (beer and wine) last March – takes place in March/July/November. The recently completed Saw Mill and Tribal Trail offers a unique way to explore on foot – from North Bend’s Old Town to the bayside “Hollering Place” in Coos Bay’s Empire district, this history walk honors paths created by Coos tribal ancestors that connected their bayside villages and hunting grounds. In the 1850s, thirsty loggers and shipyard workers walked the route to the saloons in Empire City. Trail markers with QR codes designate 35 points of historical and horticultural interest along the way. This urban trail combines side streets, parks and footpaths in 5.6-mile and 2-mile trail options. A free map, available at local visitor information centers and online, provides details and alternate routes for following the trail by bike or by car. www.coasttrails.org/SawmillTribalTrail.html
