The 2023 Paddling Film Festival World Tour in Gold Beach, held June 10, was a huge success.
More than 65 people showed up at the Curry Public Library to watch 15 fun and inspiring films, covering themes like whitewater rafting, ocean kayaking, river kayaking, citizen science, paddle guides, and woman-owned outfitters.
Arch Rock Brewing served beer and wine while Divine Catering provided tasty munchies. Some lucky folks received amazing raffle prizes including artwork from local artists, paddling safety equipment, overnight stays at local lodges, a kayak, life vests, paddles, and more.
Earlier in the day, a group of paddlers participated in the Rogue River community paddle. One of the goals of the community paddle is to connect paddlers with one another so they can get out on the water together and enjoy the many water-based outdoor recreation opportunities on the South Coast.
The event raised money in support of Ascend, a local after school enrichment program. The Paddling Film Festival was sponsored by OCVA and organized with help from Travel Curry Coast, the Port of Gold Beach, the Ascend Program, and the Curry County Aquatic Safety program. Special thanks to the many donors to the raffle.
