On Friday, October 11th, Oregon Coast mountain bikers gathered at the new event space at Arch Rock Brewing in Gold Beach, Oregon to learn about the Wild Rivers Coast Mountain Bicycling Association and all their efforts to develop and maintain trails along the south coast.
Riders heard update about the Gold Beach Trails Plan, which includes the latest trail proposal up near Wildhorse Fire Lookout on Forest Service lands due east of Gold Beach. The bike club has been very busy throughout the south coast maintaining trails at places like Blue Ridge, Winchester Trails, Whiskey Run, Lawson Creek, Pine Grove, and 100 Acre Wood. While the club continues it’s work on existing trails, they are also working through a process to develop epic new trails — so stayed tuned for more on the Wildhorse Trails Proposal in the coming months!
Beyond train updates, this meet-up was also a great excuse to try the Taco Loco food truck and enjoy the amazing brews from Arch Rock Brewing, while screening some fun mountain bike movies on a big screen! Attendees appreciated the good food, great beer, fun movies, the trails knowledge sharing, and the camaraderie at the new Arch Rock Brewing space next to the brewery in the Hunter Creek area of Gold Beach.
The Wild Rivers Coast Mountain Bicycling Association also welcomed our International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) neighbors to the south, the Redwood Coast IMBA club. We were happy to share our efforts and trails with some fun friends from northern California.
On Saturday morning we gathered up in Agness to run shuttles on the fun intermediate trails Pine Grove and Fritsche Cabin, where 30 people enjoyed the shuttle drops at both locations for fast downhill fun. To finish it off, we gathered at Cougar Lane lodge for their delicious barbeque right on the Rogue River.
A huge thanks to everyone involved in this event, and to all our partners for their continued work to build up mountain biking trails and events along the Oregon Coast.
Cheers!
