Cannon Beach Rolls out Mobi-mats
Another big win for coastal accessibility: Cannon Beach is the latest coastal community to roll out Mobi-mats!
These portable, non-slip pathways make it easier for everyone to enjoy the beach, including those using mobility devices or pushing strollers.

“Bringing Mobi Mats to Cannon Beach is a big win for both our visitors and our community,” said James Paino, executive director of the Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce. “These mats give more people the chance to experience the beach more fully.”
So far, 250 feet of mat has been installed at the Tolovana State Park beach access ramp, with plans to expand to 400 feet following a pilot phase to test how the mats stand up to shifting tides. The mats will be in place seasonally from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
This effort was a true community collaboration, led by the Cannon Beach Accessibility Task Force (spearheaded by Sierra Spinler), supported by the Haystack Rock Awareness Program and Public Works for installation and upkeep, and made possible through funding from the Oregon Coast Visitors Association. A great example of what happens when partners come together with inclusion in mind.
Cannon Beach now joins Bayshore, Florence (Heceta Head) and Gold Beach Visitor’s Center as recipients of the Oregon Coast Visitors Association’s (OCVA) Mobi-Mat funding, which helps to ensure more people can experience the magic of the Oregon Coast. Learn more about the program here.
