Between Cape Blanco and Floras Lake there is an undeveloped state park that contains some segments of the Oregon Coast Trail and a wonderful trail out and back to Blacklock Point. This park is not marked by a sign on the highway and accordingly is usually not very busy, but it offers a great hike through the coastal forest and a spectacular reward at the end.
Starting at a small parking area next to the Cape Blanco airport, the trail to Blacklock Point is fairly easy to follow. It can be quite wet and flooded, and detours around the wet spots are frequent. The vegetation is lush, and other than the wetness the hike through the woods is quite pleasant. Eventually the trail comes out to the bluff above Blacklock Point, and from there it is a short walk along the cliffs to catch great vistas up and down the coast. Cape Blanco is prominent to the south, and the lighthouse can be seen on a clear day.
