Billy has lived and fished the lower Columbia area his whole life. He was going over the Columbia River Bar at the age of 12 as a deckhand on a charter boat out of Hammond, Oregon. In 1980 he obtained his U.S. Coast Guard Masters license.

Gale Force Guides specializes in sturgeon fishing, salmon fishing, (King Salmon and Coho salmon) steelhead fishing, and crab fishing on the Columbia River, Willamette River, Nehalem River, Tillamook Bay, and Buoy 10, as well as crossing the Columbia River Bar to fish in the Pacific Ocean.
Besides offering fishing tips and fishing reports, Gale Force Guides also offers tips on beachcombing and razor clam digging in and around Astoria, Seaside, Warrenton, Cannon Beach, and Hammond.
You’ll fish in comfort from a 26′ sled custom built in town locally by Pic Nic Welding. It’s 10′ wide and has comfortable Bentley seats and is powered by a 225 horsepower Mercury Verado Engine. It seats 6 people however, arrangements for larger groups can be made with some notice. All bait and equipment are inclusive. Gale Force Guides uses Lamiglas rods with Shimano and Penn Reels.
