Bird Watching Explorience
Bird lovers can flock to this Explorience hosted by the Seven Capes Bird Alliance in partnership with Lincoln City Parks and Recreation and Explore Lincoln City. Learn about coastal birds and their natural habitat. This bird watching adventure starts with a brief overview by a local expert followed by a guided walk along D River, crosses a hidden boardwalk through unique wetlands, then heads into Devils Lake Campground. Along the journey from river to lake, you will watch for herons, Mallards, Canadian Geese, songbirds, Osprey and swallows.
This Bird Watching Explorience begins at 9 a.m., lasts for two hours, is free, and requires no registration. Meet the guide at the sign that will be located at the intersection of Hwy. 101 and NE 1st Street, the entrance to Hostetler Park. The parking lot is gravel but is often flooded and muddy. The walk is initially on an old service road that crosses a closed bridge to a wide gravel area. The boardwalk is wide and the walk through the campground is paved. The terrain is mostly flat with only slight, short elevation changes.
