Gardens are overflowing with inspiration for art! From the functional to the decorative, spending a week at the LAB observing and creating could be the spark they need to further create on their own all summer long! We will delve into all manner of media (sculpting, acrylic, watercolor, ink, collage, and assemblage, stop-motion animation) and even get some learnin’ in there: color mixing, shape, and negative space—BUT not too much—the focus will be on fun and experimentation! Projects will include, but are not limited to sculpting mini gardens, painted flower pots, bug sculptures, making leaf and petal stamps, garden prayer flags, looking at other artists’ renditions of gardens and plants then creating our own large scale painting as well as a collaborative piece! And of course, plenty of drawing from observation AND imagination.
Camp will last 3 hours and includes a little snack break/stretch time—so be sure to pack a snack.
Part of one class time will be at Mingus Park.
