Bow Wows & Brews on the Boardwalk this weekend

Posted by OCVA / June 29, 2017

Brookings, Oregon – June 26, 2017 – Rescue dogs and regional beers will be on tap for the Dog Days of Summer Brewfest on the Boardwalk at the Port of Brookings-Harbor Saturday & Sunday (July 1st & 2nd).

This inaugural event to benefit Wild Rivers Animal Rescue will include canine contests, craft beer, home brew contest, an artisan market, food, and a variety of live music including Rapp Brush, Crazy Mountain Hillbillies, Responsible Punks, Wingnuts, Frankie C, the Other Guise, & 2nd Bridge!

One of the highlights of the weekend will be a series of casual and friendly dog competitions Sunday. Does your dog have what it takes? Want to get bragging rights? Competitions include Best Trick, Best Costume, Best Look Alike, Best Kisser, and Most Interesting Rescue Dog. The rules are loose and the judges are ready to be swayed by the opinion of the crowd – so bring friends and peanut butter lipstick! The entry fee for one competition is $5, and just $10 for two or more competitions. Pre-register for the canine contests at or register in person at the event.

Throughout Dog Days of Summer Brewfest, the rescue will host a photo booth – get a photo for a donation, sell raffle tickets for great “Dog Days of Summer”-themed baskets, and share information about its important work in our community. Some great gear will also be available for purchase. The rescue will have a selection of adoptable dogs at the events for meet-and-greet opportunities for a number of hours.

Both days will be filled with regional breweries on tap including Bandon Brewing Company, Arch Rock, 7 Devils, Climate City, Misty Mountain Brewing, Opposition Brewing, Conner Fields, Port O’ Pints, Chetco Brewing Company, & more.
