Nominate Your Favorite Oregon Coast Bike Route as a State Scenic Bikeway in 2011.

Posted by OCVA / November 19, 2010

The Oregon Scenic Bikeways Committee is asking local proponents to launch the process of nominating their favorite bicycle rides for state scenic bikeway consideration in 2011.  The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) will accept nominations starting January 1 through March 1, 2011 for routes with outstanding scenic views, historic value and majestic natural landscapes throughout Oregon.

The applications will be considered by the Oregon Scenic Bikeway Committee, an advisory group that will recommend scenic bikeway designations to the OPRD director. The bikeway committee recommended its first eight routes for state scenic bikeway recognition last September. Those routes include nearly 800 miles of the 1,500 miles proposed. The Oregon Parks and Recreation Commission must give final approvals.
