IN THE MOOD? - Oregon Coast Visitors Association

Posted by OCVA / August 30, 2010

Does the arrival of September have you feeling like the bloom is slowly fading from your rose? Are your mid-summer spirits starting to droop? Then it’s time to turn up the heat and engage in a romantic fling on The People’s Coast!

Can we tempt you with festive festivals and festivities? Fantastic flora and fauna in full au naturel display? Amorous adventures just waiting to be explored? Whether you like your weather hot or not, it’s the season to expose yourself to all we have to offer! So come for a walk on the wild side. Get yourself back into the thicket of things. Fall back in love with life. Feel your temperature rise. And have yourself an affair to remember, right here on The People’s Coast!

When your spirits start to sag like a pair of droopy drawers, we can boost your mood without tightening your belt. Just head for the aptly named Bay Area Fun Festival in Coos Bay! Motor over to Florence for the Rods ‘n’ Rhodies celebration and the Hobby & Collector Fair, or add their Horizon Folk & Bluegrass Concert to your repertoire!

Move to the beat of a different drummer and enjoy a traditional salmon bake during a celebration of Native American culture at the annual Mill-Luck Salmon Celebration in North Bend. Learn the proper way to cast for and harvest crabs at the Crabbing Around event in Charleston. Pick up your spirits by volunteering to help clear debris from any one of 40 beaches at the Great Oregon Fall Beach Cleanup.

Need a little more color in your life? Then expose yourself to the five acres of luxurious flowering gardens along the bluff at Shore Acres State Park in Charleston. Meander along the well-kept paths graced by hundreds of rhododendrons, azaleas, perennials and flowering trees at the Connie Hansen Garden or gather up-close views of the wildlife at Drift Creek Falls in Lincoln City.

Now picture this: You can fine-tune your skills at the Photographing Oregon’s Sea Cottages and Gardens Workshop in Lincoln City. Add socializing, appetizers, music and art to the mix at the Fall Fling For the Arts in Coos Bay. Or just make hay while the sun shines and enjoy a romantic sunset over Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach. You’ll have a blast!

If you’re feeling a little shot after a long day at the beach, rest at ease. We have a bounty of great places to rest your weary head! Settle into a yurt, cabin or two-bedroom house and soak in the scenery and special discounts at Loon Lake Lodge & RV Resort in Reedsport. Restore your spirits with a 20 percent discount at the Sea Spirit House Bed & Breakfast in Yachats. Hook yourself up to a 10 percent discount or a one-day free stay at the Alsea River RV Park & Marina in Waldport.

Once you’re back on your feet, you can get back in the swing of things with a summer golf package at Salishan Spa & Golf Resort in Gleneden Beach. Or rekindle your romance with a Beach Campfire Package at the Inn at Cape Kiwanda in Pacific City. How hot is that?

Come on, people! All you had to do to win a free four-hour kayak rental from Wheel Fun Rentals plus a bicycle tour for four from Tom’s Tours in Seaside was to Share Your Story of adventure or romance on The People’s Coast. But nooooo, you weren’t forthcoming with us! And the prize went unclaimed. So we’re going to tempt you one more time. And this time, you should wheely take advantage of the opportunity.
