HOW SWEET IT IS! - Oregon Coast Visitors Association

Posted by OCVA / January 27, 2010

With Valentine’s Day on the horizon, there’s no sweeter spot for a romantic getaway than the Oregon Coast.

If your view of romance is confined to packaged chocolates, you need to think outside the box, broaden your horizons and let your imagination run wild! February is Romantic Getaway month on The People’s Coast, and this month there’s no sweeter spot to indulge in a tempting selection of romantic events and sweetheart deals.

So let’s get right to the heart of the matter.

Imagine the soft curve of the Pacific horizon as the sun sets resplendent. A moonlit stroll on a secluded beach beneath the silent shifting of stars. The gentle caress of an ocean breeze. If that helped set the mood, it’s time to make your move.

Move quickly and you can be among the 16 lucky couples who can renew their wedding vows for free on Valentine’s Day in Lincoln City. Or make plans to visit Seaside for the annual Weddings at the Beach Bridal Show. That’s just a taste of the amorous opportunities that await you here.

Indulge in “A Sweet Affaire” of wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres and chocolate in Seaside, a Penner-Ash winemaker’s dinner in Cannon Beach or an elegant five-course breakfast and champagne at the Edwin K Bed & Breakfast in Florence. And you’ll certainly find nothing to crab about at the Annual Crab Feed in Charleston.

Love music? Then you’ll want to converge on Reedsport for Confluence, a two-day festival of music, seafood and Oregon-crafted wines and beer. Dance the night away at the Annual Oregon Dixieland Jubilee in Seaside. Rediscover the timeless rhythms of romance at “Heart And Soul”, a concert celebrating the career of Broadway composer Frank Loesser in Florence.

Adventurous lovebirds can witness romance take flight during a guided kayak tour with NorthWest EcoExcursions on the Central Coast. Watch their inhibitions melt away at a glass-blowing demonstration at the Jennifer L. Sears Glass Art Studio in Lincoln City. Or put themselves in a position to score a hand-crafted Myrtlewood coin at a geocaching challenge in Coos Bay – North Bend.

You won’t need a GPS to locate a trove of special romantic getaway offers this month up and down The People’s Coast. You’ll find all the information you need right here. So why seal your sentiments in an envelope when you could be writing love letters in the sand?

Want to show your special sweetheart some extra love this month? Gold Beach Promotions Committee has created a “Share the Love Package” that includes two nights lodging for two, two lunches for two, two dinners for two and two jet boat trips for two. So Share Your Stories about the Oregon coast, and we vow you’ll have a chance to win something extra special to share with someone you love!
