Oregon Honeymoon 1922

Posted by Sharon Adams / February 13, 2009

My story is about my Grandparents, Francis and Garnet Bonn. The year was 1922, and following a lovely wedding in Portland, my Grandparents planned their honeymoon to the Oregon Coast , their trip a bumpy and long trek to the banks of the Nestucca. There they parked, picnicked, and proceeded across the river via rowboat to camp along the shore, there they spent the next 2 days, digging, and canning, by the campfire their treasure of razor clams. Later in my life, as a resident of Pacific City, I recall my grandmother telling us of their “less than glamorous” honeymoon adventure on our way down to the low tide exposed “clam diggin” spot that they had explored so many years before.
