My favorite Sunday Drive - Oregon Coast Visitors Association

My favorite Sunday Drive

As a local and someone who works for the Visitor & Convention Bureau i get the best of both worlds. I get to help people plan their vacations, and I get to see and visit these places on a regular basis.

My favorite Sunday activity is to take the 4 legged kids to one of the many beaches. Often we find ourselves at Cape Arago Beach. Its at the very end of Cape Arago Loop, past Shore Acres. It often gets overlooked or missed by tourists who stop at Shore Acres of the whale watching site and don’t go the short distance further. There’s a great trail that leads down to the beach that has the most breathtaking views. The dogs love running down it. When you arrive at the bottom, its in a cove so its well protected from the wind and usually you’ll find a couple people who will ocean fish off the rocks. It makes me glad to live on the coast, the thing i always say is there’s no problem that the ocean can’t fix for me, it just reminds me how good I have it. On the way back I always stop at the docks in Charleston to grab some fresh fish or crab at Fishermen’s wharf on the D dock. They buy their fish straight off the boats and its run by the nicest family you’ll ever meet.
