The Cape Perpetua Visitor Center staff are inviting people to explore the worlds of the Intertidal Zone this weekend, July 16 through 18th.  This is a 2nd series of especially low tides this summer that provides a great time to see favorite life forms such as sea anemones, sea urchins and feather boa kelp as well as some more unusual creatures.

During these special “Tide Pool Discovery Days” naturalists will be stationed at the tide pools from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (July 16) and 9:00 – 12:00 a.m. on Sunday and Monday (July 17 & 18).  Naturalists love to share the wonders of the tide pool creatures and seaweeds.

After the tide comes in, tide pool-related ranger programs, movies, display items and activities for kids will be offered at the Visitor Center.   A new program this summer is a series of activities by Mellie Bukovsky-Reyes, local nature educator.  Mellie will lead children in “Discovering Cape Perpetua through the Senses”, which includes tide pool related crafts and nature walks.  Mellie’s popular programs will be available Sunday and Monday (July 17 & 18), 11:00am to 4:00 pm.
