Blessing of the Fleet

A Newport tradition which honors the men and women of the sea. Events include the Survival Suit Races, Memorial Service for those lost at sea, the annual Blessing of the Fleet parade of vessels and the incredible Highliner Competition featuring area fishermen doing battle in involving fishing related tasks, such as crab pot stacking, net mending, coiling, knot tying, among other events.

Events take place along Newport’s Historic Bayfront and at the Fishermen’s Memorial at Yaquina Bay State Park. The Blessing of the Fleet commences at 1:00pm and can be viewed at sites along the Bayfront.
