Imagine traveling by stagecoach along the beach (before the highway was built, the beach was the only way to go). North of the parking area you can still walk along the original trail carved into the point by the stagecoaches. The wayside was named after this trail because it hugs the point.

Indian Beach Trail
Cannon Beach, Oregon 97110Located in scenic Ecola State Park, this classic coastal route offers a winding trail through a dense coastal forest with beautiful ocean views and two picturesque beaches, Cannon Beach and Indian Beach, as a highlight. This 2 mile trail connects Cannon Beach with Indian Beach which gives you classic views of "Terrible Tilly", the old lighthouse on Tillamook Rock. Dropping to the beach rewards hikers with the usual anemones, starfish, sand dollars, and other wonderful things to enjoy.
