Annual Lighted Boat Parade in Newport

Seaside Downtown Wine Walk in Seaside

Wine Walk brings hundreds of people to the downtown area for an afternoon and evening of great wines, great food and of course, great fun! We set up three different locations to sell our commemorative wine glasses and check ID’s. The glasses are required and we sell them for $7.50 each, the ID bracelets are free (if you’re over 21)! Participants are given maps indicating in which business each winery is located. Then, promptly at 3:00pm the Wine Walkers are off and the fun begins! They can follow the map stop-by-stop or go any which way they want to! The event lasts for 4 hours, giving everybody plenty of time to visit each winery. The wineries are allowed to sell unopened bottles, so if you find a new favorite you can take a bottle home with you! Most of the wineries charge a small tasting fee, making it an inexpensive way to experience new wines and check out what downtown Seaside has to offer. Some of our businesses have live music, so you can tap your toe while you taste your wine! Since all the wine must be consumed in the host business, it’s a great time for browsing the stores and maybe finding a special gift for that special someone!

65th Bandon Cranberry Festival in Bandon

Every September Bandon honors the industry that has made it the “Cranberry Capital of Oregon.” At harvest time the bogs are brilliant crimson with ripe berries and turning leaves, with a bevy of mechanical harvesters and hip-booted helpers wading the fields. More than 175 growers in Coos and Curry County harvest 40 million pounds of the tart red fruit each year, approximately 1/3 of the total West Coast crop. The Festival fun includes the high school football Cranberry Bowl, a parade with Cranberry King or Queen, craft booths, a barbecue thrown by the local Lions Club, live music – everything visitors hope for in a charming small-town festival. Some farms offer free tours of the bogs from June through October.

The annual Fall Beach Cleanup has been expanded into the SOLV Beach and Riverside Cleanup. Save the date to celebrate! The Yaquina Bay Bridge turns 75 this year!
The Yaquina Bay Bridge was designed by prolific architect Conde McCullough and completed in 1936. The Community of Newport invites you to celebrate the 75th Birthday of the Yaquina Bay Bridge all month long! Join in the month-long celebration beginning Labor Day weekend. Special programs, historic walking tours, a photo and coloring contests & a commemorative label release from Rouge Brewery are already in the works; all leading up to a 1930′s style Community Picnic, on Sunday, October 2, 2011. There will be a Bridge walk, Re-dedication Ceremony, 1930′s Classic Car promenade, live music, food, vendor booths and more! Come be a part of History in the Making!
