South Coast Striders Hike – Eel Lake

Join us for one of our favorite hikes. Hikers, paddlers, pedalers and swimmers are all invited to join us. 

Short hike:  4 mile hike out and back along Eel Lake Trail. This is a beautiful and fairly level trail which runs around the south edge of the lake for 3 miles. 
Long hike:  5 mile out and back along lake.trail.    Option to paddle half and hike half.    
Eel Lake is a very nice flat water paddle & has a swimming area (swimmers should wear wetsuits this time of year). Paddlers will put in at 7:30am, all are welcome to join. Hike starts at 10am. 

Meet in the Day Use area next to Eel Lake at Tugman State Park.
Driving directions: From the Visitor Center in downtown Coos Bay drive 18 miles N. on Hwy 101 to Tugman State Park on your right. Turn in and follow the signs to the day use area at Eel Lake.

Carpool: Coos Bay Visitor Center 9:20am.  

Hikes leave at 10am sharp unless otherwise noticed. Arrive 15 minutes early for sign in and hike information. Visitors are always welcome and encouraged to come! Short hikes have an average pace of 2mph and last 2.5 -3.5 hrs while long hikes average 2-3mph pace and can last 3-6 hours. Bring lunch and water and raingear, dress in layers, and wear sturdy waterproof boots.
