28th Annual Stormy Weather Arts Festival
A weekend full of art events, musical performances, artist demonstrations and gallery receptions make November’s Stormy Weather Arts Festival one of Cannon Beach, Oregon’s most popular annual events.
Three full days of art and musical events are planned for the 28th Annual Cannon Beach Stormy Weather Arts Festival, November 6-8, 2015. Popular festival events include Art in Action on Friday night and a spotlight concert featuring The Lloyd Jones Struggle on Saturday night. Throughout the weekend, the town’s galleries will present special events showcasing the artists they represent, with many of the artists on hand to present their latest works, conduct demonstrations or discuss their work.
At the Art in Action event on Friday evening, several professional artists will demonstrate their techniques and create works of art available for purchase during the evening banquet and silent auction. The silent auction during the evening will offer attendees the opportunity to bid on unique Cannon Beach experiences, travel packages and other items.
On Saturday, musical performances will be featured throughout town before the Saturday night spotlight concert in the intimate 200-seat Coaster Theatre that will showcase journeyman blues artist Lloyd Jones who has forged a 30-year career, reaping numerous awards in the Northwest for his performances and recordings. He was named to the Oregon Music Hall of Fame in 2007 and has appeared on stage with blues greats such as Robert Cray, Bonnie Raitt, B.B. King, Charlie Musselwhite, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal and Etta James.
Cannon Beach is home to over a dozen art galleries and has been named one of “The 100 Best Art Towns in America” by author John Villani in his book by the same title. Many of the gallery’s most successful national and regional artists, as well as prominent local artists, will be showcased during the festival.
