Hands on Stewardship: Plant Native Shrubs at Clear Lake

Posted by OCVA / February 21, 2015

Help create an interdunal wetland by planting native crabapple and twinberry at Clear Lake, a 45-acre preserve that NCLC acquired in 2013 as part of their Columbia Quiet Waters Conservation Initiative. Last year NCLC began an ambitious improvement project there, restoring existing wetlands as well as creating new wetlands and planting willows and other native vegetation. More native shrubs will help put these new and recovering wetlands on a healthy trajectory. This stewardship day is also a chance to see how the restoration under way at this special site is coming along.

Contact stewardship Director Melissa Reich at melissar@nclctrust.org in advance for participation and directions to the property. Bring a lunch and prepare to get muddy. There are no toilets on the property.
