Warm weather heats up tourism on cooler Oregon Coast

COOS BAY, Ore. – While much of western Oregon faces a heat wave this week, temperatures are expected to stay much cooler on the Oregon Coast.

Tourism officials say this is the time of year where the coast sees a boost of people trying to beat the heat.

“A lot of folks coming from inland, they tend to show up in shorts and a tank top and then end up purchasing sweatshirts while they’re here,” said Katherine Hoppe with the Coos Bay/North Bend Visitors Center. “It’s so much cooler than what they’re used to, but it’s a relief for them to get away from the heat and also enjoy everything that we have to offer here.
