The Jaybirds in Concert

Posted by OCVA / July 24, 2014

With a fourth critically-acclaimed album and expanded touring schedule, John Reischman and the Jaybirds are a top-flight band delivering a truly fresh blend of original songs and instrumentals, old-time heritage, and bluegrass power.  To feel that power for yourself, be in Lincoln City on Thursday, July 24, and make your way to the Lincoln City Cultural Center, 540 NE Hwy. 101. The Jaybirds’ concert starts there at 7 pm.

The LCCC is proud to host the Canadian bluegrass group’s only Oregon concert, between gigs in Bainbridge Island and at the Columbia Gorge Bluegrass Festival. On July 24, house doors will open at 6:30 pm, and beer, wine and sodas will be sold inside. Tickets are $20 in advance, and $22 at the door, on sale now at the LCCC Information Center (inside the cultural center). Or, they can be purchased over the phone with a major credit card: call 541-994-9994 to reserve.

Featuring nine new songs and tunes from all five founding band members, “Stellar Jays” is the latest in a series of CDs to win rave reviews for a trademark, old-time-infused bluegrass sound that respects tradition while advancing the music. The nomination of “Stellar Jays” for two 2007 Canadian Folk Music Awards follows praise such as this from Nashville Public Radio: “A masterpiece — a fascinating and fresh-sounding collection of tunes that incorporate the best elements of bluegrass and old-time into a killer new sound.”
