6th Annual Plein Air & More Arts Festival will Feature Work of Nearly 50 Artists

Cannon Beach, OR – June 12, 2014 – Its no wonder Cannon Beach has been named “One of the Most Beautiful Places in the World” by National Geographic and “One of the 100 Best Art Towns in America.*” For years, the spectacular natural beauty has beckoned artists from around the world to capture the unique elements of this landscape “en plein air” or “in the open air”. To celebrate the challenging artistic style and the work of the artists, the Cannon Beach Gallery Group is presenting the 6th Annual Plein Air & More Arts Festival. Scheduled for June 27-29, the event will feature artists represented by 13 of Cannon Beach’s art galleries

They will create art on location throughout the town and on the beach on Friday and Saturday with their work showcased at gallery receptions on Saturday evening. They will also participate in a group show at the Cannon Beach Chamber Building Friday evening. The events are free and will take place rain or shine. Maps detailing the location of each artist will be available at all Cannon Beach galleries and the Chamber of Commerce. Visitors are encouraged to ask questions of the artists while they work, or simply observe.

and in nearby settings.

5:00-8:00 p.m.

Individual gallery receptions showcasing new work

 

Sunday, June 29

11:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Artists working on location. Group show in the Cannon Beach Chamber Building continues with new work created on Saturday. Everyone is invited to vote for “The People’s Choice Award.” Show will end at 3:30PM

Join noted artists Michael Orwick and Eric Jacobsen for five days of painting spectacular coastal scenery. The class will focus on infusing life and personality into your work and on the fundamentals of landscape painting. Open to painters of any level.
