The calm waters of a remote cove on the north side of Depoe Bay lured these beachcombers for a holiday wade in the surf. While the Oregon coast is known for wild winter storms, the surprising truth is that pleasant days typically outnumber those with extreme conditions. Meteorologists claim that the moderating influence of the ocean often results in 50-degree, sunny weather even as the Willamette Valley is socked-in and freezing.
