Noble Creek Hatchery Fin Clipping Open House

Posted by OCVA / May 23, 2013

No experience is required and everyone is welcome, training will be provided.  Learn a little about the life cycle of salmon and assist with fin clipping.

Coos River STEP Association operates Noble Creek Hatchery, raising salmon supplied by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. Young salmon are released into Noble Creek, a tributary to Isthmus Slough and part of the Coos Bay estuary.

Directions: To get there from Coos Bay, take Highway 42 and turn east onto Green Acres Lane into the community of Green Acres. Drive about one mile and watch for signs at the hatchery.

If you would like to participate with fin-marking at Noble Creek, please contact Gary Vonderohe at (541) 888-5515.  or email gary.r.vonderohe@state.or.us
