10th Annual Birding & Blues Festival

Posted by OCVA / April 14, 2013

the event will feature three days of lectures by respected birding experts, as well as live birds exhibitions. Seminars will address topics ranging from adventures in birding abroad, to the identification of birds in your own backyard, to the natural history of South Tillamook County — and much more.

For the outdoor minded, the festival features numerous birding hikes led by experienced birders to a wide variety of local habitats. Amongst the offerings are trips to Nestucca Bay National Wildlife Refuge, Clay Myers State Natural Area, and Neskowin Marsh.

For a different vantage point, birders can opt for one of the festival’s excursions. Trips include   kayak expeditions on local waterways or an all-day birding journey on the Three Capes Scenic Tour. This tour travels a 60-mile round trip that features stops along views of the Pacific Ocean, Netarts Bay, Cape Lookout State Park, Cape Meares Wildlife Refuge, and Tillamook pastures —each a unique birding habitat.

Music is an essential part of any Birding & Blues celebration and this year will be no exception. Shows are typically open to all ages and offer performances that are sure to get you up on your feet. Prepare to enjoy a unique, soulful lineup of regional entertainers.

Birding & Blues will have something to offer all ages and interests. Join us for the free Community Open House on Friday afternoon.
