Festival of Quilts
September 17 and 18, 2011 will be the dates for the Gold Beach Quilters’ 27th Annual Quilt Show. The vendors that will be participating and selling their wares this year are: Wooden Spools, Linda Edwards Fiber Arts, Forget-Me-Knots, Laurie Harshman, Karen Reyman, – African Fabrications, Electric Hospital & Second Chance Dolls.
The CASA Raffle Quilt launched at last year’s show will be displayed, with tickets for sale, and then the wining ticket will be drawn Sunday, September 18th an 3:30. Participants need not be present to win. All proceeds from this raffle will benefit the Curry County court Appointed Special Advocate program. The Gold Beach Quilters and their friends from all over Curry County created this quilt. The machine quilting for this project was done by Shelley Knapp of Brookings, making this work of love a true Curry County quilt. It is a “must see” and is a very coveted item for those who have bought tickets.
A free Basics of Quilting class will be offered during the Quilt Show on Saturday from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Participants will complete a quilted potholder to take home. Please bring a working sewing machine with needle, scissors to cut thread, two fat quarters (18” by 20”) of coordinating colors, neutral colored thread, and a needle for hand sewing . If you have them, please bring a rotary cutter, cutting ruler and cutting mat; the Gold Beach Quilters Guild will have these available to borrow during the class. Class size is limited, please call 541-247-0710 to register with your name and your phone number.
