ODOT will close U.S. 20 (Corvallis-Newport Hwy) at milepost 15, midway between Toledo and Eddyville for 60 hours beginning May 20, 2011 to complete the US 20: Pioneer Mountain Loop Rd to Yaquina River project. Located on U.S. 20 from mile post 14.53 to mile post 16.29, this project will realign the curves near Sam’s Creek Road and repave the existing highway between Sam’s Creek Road and Pioneer Mountain Loop Road.

Beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2011 and continuing through 6 a.m. Monday, May 23, the highway will be closed to all traffic.Signs will be located east and west of the closure to inform and remind motorists of the closure. During the 60 hour closure, OR 34 will be the primary passenger and recreational vehicle detour. Trucks are restricted to legal length on OR 34. The suggested truck route is 99W to OR22 to OR 18.

When the highway reopens, motorists will use the new, straighter section of highway. The new roadway improves safety for motorists by eliminating sharp curves and improving sight distance for motorists. For more information click here.
