Coast Fun

Posted by Stuart Kemp / May 3, 2010

We hadn’t been to this part of the Coast ever before, but it was well worth the trip. We headed in late August, which allowed later light and a warm, but not too hot daytime.

We stayed in North Bend and decided to make the venture to the Game Park in Bandon, OR.

This place is amazing. The wildlife is incredible and the chances to meet young animals up close is well worth the admission. You’ll want to have a few bucks available to buy some “ice cream cones” which are full of treats. The goats always seem to get to you first and will love you immediately. But, it’s watching a few of the other animals who will hop up on anything including each other to be “seen” so you’ll fed them. That part can be absolutely hilarious.

You must make a stop at local eateries, many of which have excellent seafood dishes and huge portions. My battered fish order was so large, a big person like me had to take leftovers home!

Then the night, watching waves crash the coast and the moonlight being the only thing that lights up the sky, makes this even more spectacular!

The Coastline is breathtaking in this area with nothing but horizon between sky and ocean and it makes for a great scene.

I’d love to revisit this area again, see the animals and the sights. I think I need a few days this time instead of the 2 I spent before. When you get there, you’ll know why!

The drive is easy, the views are incredible and it makes you want to return again and again.

I will return!!

By the way, I’d love to submit a photo, but my files are too big. : )

I love Bandon! The kids loved the petting zoo part. Those are memories that our family won’t soon forget!
