Star Fish

Posted by Stefanie D. of Shelton, WA / June 18, 2009

I love to visit the Oregon Coast. You put our beaches in Washington to shame. I’ve been visiting almost every year for the past 20 years.

I love going to Newport to go Crabing. One year I was pulling crab pots with my dad, when I was pulling up a heavy pot. I finally got the pot in view, and could not beleive what we saw in it. There was the biggest star fish I had ever seen. It was at least 2 1/2 feet accross ( I think it was at least 3 feet.) It was solid purple with 36 tenticles. That baby was hard to free from the crab pot. It also ate all my bait… So now when I go I always look for the jumbo size star fish, even though lately all I get to see are small star fish and rock crab, but that’s okay it so much fun to go crabbing in Oregon.
