Heat Relief

Posted by Debbie / August 26, 2008

The thermometer was reaching 98 degrees (somewhere in Oregon) and no relief was in sight. I spent my evenings performing in a local production of “Hello Dolly”, but, with heavy costumes, that only made matters worse. The director called us together, saying, “You have three days off before the next performance.” One word came to mind: “COAST”.

We chose Newport, a place from our past. We decided to see the Oregon Coast Aquarium. The staff was amazing: friendly, intelligent and helpful. The facility was clean and well maintained, with educational exhibits of otters, sharks and crustaceans. We learned, we laughed, and we were renewed. The staff really knew how to make these out-of-towners feel welcomed.
