Happy Memories of Oregon

Posted by Sgt. Michael & Erin / August 17, 2008

My husband just got back after a 15 month tour in Iraq and we were stationed in Alaska. We drove the Alaska Highway, and headed to the Oregon Coast in Newport for a week’s vacation before heading home to Tennessee. We stayed at the Howard Johnson in Waldport for 4 nights and because we loved it so much we added 2 more nights. It was so nice and the people were so friendly. We had our Valentine’s Dinner at the Howard Johnson overlooking the Alsea Bay Bridge. For me and my husband being apart for 15 months THIS TRIP SAID IT ALL…WE LOVED IT. The people were so nice. We walked on the beach and in Newport we visited the aquariums and shops and ate at Mo’s for the first time. That week was filled with wonderful relaxation.

My husband and I are not looking forward to another 15 month tour apart but we are looking forward to going to Oregon in the near future when he comes home. To us Oregon was a chance to be close again and feel at peace in such a time of ward and separation. We love OREGON FOR THE HAPPY MEMORIES and for my husband just to see the ocean sparkle on his eyes was worth it.

Thank you, from a military wife…for the memories
