Coos Bay Area Named as Top Place to Live

Posted by OCVA / August 6, 2008

The new issue of National Geographic Adventure just came out with their top 50 places to live and play (the Fifty next Great Adventure Towns) and the Coos Bay Area was named as number 2 in the West!

“Weekend Retreat”
Coos Bay, Oregon
With Pacific Swells that rival San Diego’s, Coos Bay has carved a name for itself as the Northwest’s premier surfing hideout, and this year the gritty port was upgraded with a downtown face-lift. The best breaks are off Bastendorff Beach; beginners head to gentler surf at Lighthouse Beach.

Population 15,999
Median home price: $180,000

Also named in the top 50 are Hood River and Klamath Falls. See the whole feature online here.
